AN AKKADIAN SERPENTINE CYLINDER SEAL, showing a contest scene with two nude heroes, each wearing a sashed belt, bearded and with curling locks, each wrestling with a water-buffalo which is raised up on its hind-legs, a roaring lion under the two-line inscription panel, the name of which has been erased, circa 2250 B.C., 3.1cm. high; and a post-Akkadian lapis lazuli cylinder seal showing the seated sun-god, Shamash, shown with rays emanating from him and holding a knife, in front another deity with horned headdress leading a worshipper to him, the secondary deity turning back to look at the worshipper, chipped, circa 2150 B.C., 1.5cm. high (2)
