Lot Essay

A pair of closely related pot-pourri vases with mounts attributed to Thomas Germaine is in the Wallace Collection (see; F. T. B. Watson, Wallace Collection, Furniture, London, 1956, p. 82, F.115-6 pl. 113), while a pair of black lacquer examples with identical mounts from the Chateau de Bellevue are conserved in the Louvre. An identical pair was sold anonymously at Christie's Monaco, 28 February 1992, lot 34
