Italian, first half 18th century
In a gilt-metal border and on a black lacquer mount; the reverse with a label inscribed 'This was given to Mr. Birch Reynardson by General & Mrs Grosvenor. A gratifying mark of their Friendship & Regard upon leaving Stocken - Feb 9. 1826 -'.
Minor cracks and damages.

This plaque probably originally adorned a cabinet front; a very similar pietra dura panel of a rearing horse was part of a walnut cabinet on stand offered at Sotheby's, 26 May, 1989, lot 59.
