A hitherto unrecorded version, with extensive variations, of the picture in a Roman private collection (F. Arisi, Gian Paolo Panini e i fasti della Roma del '700, Rome, 1986, p. 411, no. 361, illustrated).

Professor Ferdinando Arisi has kindly informed us (in a letter of 25 March 1993) that, judging from a transparency, he considers the present picture an autograph work by Panini
