We are grateful to Mr. Malcolm Waddingham for confirming the attribution; he dates the present picture c.1620, during the artist's Florentine period, by comparison with the Watermill in Palazzo Pitti, the River Landscape in the B. Conti Collection, Rome, and the River Landscape with a Picnic in the Uffizi (L. Salerno, Pittori di paesaggio del Seicento a Roma, I, Rome, 1977-8, pls. 38.3, 38.5, 38.6 and 38.10)
