A GERMAN SPORTING CROSSBOW with robust steel bow struck with a mark and retained by its original cords, original string of twisted cord, wooden tiller swelling towards the middle and veneered with panels of staghorn, the underneath dated, and veneered with two longitudinal strips of light-coloured wood, the sides veneered with dark wood between two longitudinal lines of marquetry made up of white staghorn and light and dark wood, bone nut and heart-shaped horn bolt-clip, small iron stirrup, lugs for cranequin, two sights mounted on the right side, trigger-lever bound with its original cord, swivel safety-catch, and folding set trigger (fore-sight, butt-plate and one panel missing), dated 1569
