A FINE SAXON SPORTING CROSSBOW, the slender bow struck with a mark and with original bindings (gilding renewed), string and green tassels (one replaced), the walnut tiller inlaid throughout in finely engraved staghorn and rococo foliage, cornucopiae, a trophy of musical instruments and, on the cheek-piece a coat-of-arms, iron loop with traces of gilding, horn bolt-clip, gilt nut, set trigger and iron trigger-guard (gilding later), and engraved on the butt-plate with the maker's initial's 'IGH', by Johann Gottfried Hänisch, Dresden, circa 1730-40
