AN ITALIAN COMB MORION of one piece, with high roped comb and narrow downturned brim curving up to a point fore and aft, the base of the skull encircled by brass domed-headed lining rivets (some missing), and shield-shaped brass plume-holder (damaged), the surface etched throughout in the 'Pisan' manner with bold interlaced foliated strapwork framing crudely drawn trophies and, on the comb, circular cartouches framing figures of Mutius Scaevola and Marcus Curtius (some rust holes, patched internally on the right), circa 1570
