A BOHEMIAN WHEEL-LOCK SPORTING RIFLE with signed swamped octagonal sighted barrel engraved with a band of foliage at the breech and rifled with nine grooves, flat lock with internal wheel and pineapple finial, the plate engraved with a stag drinking from a pool in a wooded landscape, the cock and bridle to the cock-spring engraved with monsters and foliage, figured walnut full stock with fluted fore-end, the butt lightly carved in relief and inlaid on the cheekpiece with a star in ivory and ebony, fluted patch-box cover of wood and horn, iron trigger-guard, horn fore-end cap, side-nail washers and ramrod-pipes (forward pipe missing), horn butt-plate with iron button, set trigger (incomplete), and original horn-tipped ramrod, by Johann Georg Polz of Carlsbad, circa 1740
