Lot Essay

The colour of the ink of this impression is similar to although not identical with the ink used in the complete but posthumous copy of Jerusalem in the Fitzwilliam (Bentley Copy H). Impressed more firmly onto the paper than the impression in the Fitzwilliam set this single sheet may be a cropped proof executed prior to the completion of the three posthumous sets (Bentley Copies H-J)
