The pierced removable circular top with floral finial above a barrel, the removable lidded pot with branch handle, on a shaped serpentine base with a rockwork arch surrounded by three polychrome figures, of a boy holding a bird, a nun and a flower-seller, surrounded by floral branches with flower heads, on foliate feet

Lot Essay

'Verre de Nevers' was first produced in the late 17th Century, but specialised in naturalistically-modelled figures from the mid-18th Century. Related 'pastoral' figures featured on a centrepiece from the collection of Arturo Lopez-Willshaw, offered at Sotheby's Monaco, 23-4 June 1976, lot 19.
