Bathing by a Well
Details
Ida Bagus Ketut Togog (Geria Pacung, Batuan, 1924-1984)
Bathing by a Well
Wash technique on paper, pencil and black ink framing lines, framed and glazed.
23.5 x 23.5 cm.
The artist was a favourite of the Swiss painter Theo Meier and the Swiss pharmicist Dr. Ernst Schlager. A substantial collection of his work from the Schlager collection is now held at the Museum der Kulturen at Basel, Switzerland. Ketut Togog was one of very few painters who continued to paint during the war since both his clients, who were Swiss, were not affected by the war other than that they were unable to leave Bali.
Dr. A. Vickers, Sydney kindly confirmed the attribution, not to be confused with Ida Bagus Made Togog (Geria Ageng, Batuan 1913-1989).
