By the time that the 20/25 replaced the Twenty in 1929 the Depression was beginning to bite. This had remarkably little effect on the Rolls-Royce factory, though maybe some clients who would have bought Phantoms settled for the 20/25 which in some respects was a better choice for an owner-driver anyway. One result of the new austerity was that coachwork was mostly formal and open styles became increasingly rare.

This 20/25, however has the special Tickford 'C' folding hood mechanism which Salmons became famous for, so much so that in 1940 the company changed its name to Tickford (Coachbuilders) Ltd. This mechanism turns the rather formal saloon into a completely open topped tourer. The four door saloon body is in good condition although the rear doors have dropped slightly. The coachwork has been repainted cream and black with gold coachlines, although the green leather interior is original.

This car was purchased by its present owner in 1972 and in recent years has been used for weddings. It has its old style log book and V5 registration document as well as many old MoTs and the original handbook.
