The circular openwork pendant with rose-cut diamond and brown topaz cluster centre bordered by cabochon ruby and moonstones with black enamel detail and light blue rims, the supension loop and bracket to the pearl drop enamelled ensuite, the matching necklace with light blue navette-shaped links centring on ruby and moonstone three-stone detail with black and white rosettes between, circa 1895, pendant 8.5cm. overall height, necklace 37.5cm. long, in original fitted case with retailer's address Giuliano, Art Goldsmith, 49 Howland Street, London

According to G. Munn, Castellani & Giuliano, 1984, p.56 'Pieces by Federico and Ferdinando Giuliano are rarely found and have only been identified by the satins of their fitted cases, they are almost invariably unsigned'. Federico Giuliano was a brother of Carlo Giuliano and he and Ferdinando (their exact relationship is unknown) entered a hallmark in 1876 at Goldsmiths' Hall. They moved to premises at 24 Howland Street in 1883 (later renumbered 47) before moving to 49 Howland Street in 1891. Their business closed in 1903
