Lot Essay

Drawn by one of Mackintosh's assistants but bearing manuscript notes and additions by Mackintosh. No contemporary photograph of these curtains exists. The use of black webbing against the blue corduroy presages the use of tape and ribbon in the ceiling and wall decoration of the Guest Bedroom at 78 Derngate in 1919.
