Wanli six-character mark in underglaze blue within a double rectangle and of the period (1573-1619)
The cover painted on top with two dragons contesting a flaming pearl within a quatrefoil cartouche reserved on a rectangular diaper ground above panels of fruiting peach trees within raised borders on the rounded sides and panels of babao and lingzhi fungus at the indented corners, with a band of penciled scrolls at the rim, the box painted with panels of birds perched in blossoming and fruiting branches on the sides and flower sprigs at the corners below a band of leafy scroll, raised on a foot of corresponding shape

A Wanli-marked box of similar size and with the same decoration as the Falk box is in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, and is illustrated in the Catalogue of a Special Exhibition of Dragon-motif Porcelain in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, 1983, no. 37.
