Jones, 60 hand-coloured costume plates by J. Dadley and W. Poole after Dalvimart some of which are watermarked 1823 (occasional light spotting and browning). cf. Illustrated by a series of engravings from drawings made on the spot, London: Thomas McLean, 1818. 2°, hand-coloured etched frontsipiece by Wageman, engraved additional title printed in sepia with large hand-coloured vignette heightened in gold, 29 hand-coloured engraved plates (some offsetting, occasional marginal browning, text for plate XXX with a few obvious repairs). cf. FIRST EDITION of Wageman's The Military Costume of Turkey. The frontispiece is a portrait of the dedicatee, 'His Excellency Antonaki Ramadani, minister of the Ottoman Porte to his Britannic Majesty.' The additional title carries the imprint of Thomas McLean who had already taken over William Miller's copyrights, and presumably stocks, by the time the first edition was published in 1818.
