with five graduated arched splats, outswept arms with baluster supports continuing as a turned leg with toes, the straw seat above multiple stretchers

This ladderback chair clearly has proportions and features differing from the typical ladderbacks of the Cheshire and Lancashire region. It may well relate to a small, as yet not fully researched, group from the South of England, indentified in illustrations in Gertrude Jekyll, Old West Surrey, published 1904 pages 80 and 251
