This ladderback chair clearly has proportions and features differing from the typical ladderbacks of the Cheshire and Lancashire region. It may well relate to a small, as yet not fully researched, group from the South of England, indentified in illustrations in Gertrude Jekyll, Old West Surrey, published 1904 pages 80 and 251
