Lot Essay

Sylvia Phyllis Adams was a dealer and collector of Renaissance bronzes, maiolica, plaquettes and objets d'art from the late 1930s to the 1950s, at a time when such items were not widely collected. As a result, she was able to assemble a collection of superb items when her contemporaries favoured other periods. Her collection was sold in a series of five sales at Bonhams in May 1996.
