An unusual French Renaissance revival chiming wall clock, last quarter 19th century
The case with two ornamental bells to the top and a fleur-de-lys balustrade, with columns terminating in spires to the angles and Gothic tracery arches to the front and sides, with polygonal bronze ornamental weight hanging below, the chapter ring applied with Gothic numerals, with blue painted centre signed in gilt Planchon/a Paris around an engraved gilt-brass centre mount, with steel hands, the twin barrel movement with countwheel strike on gong on the half hour, the backplate stamped PLANCHON A PARIS and numbered 6254, also with stamp for VINCENTI & CIE, with trip to a single barrel movement peeling with four gongs on the hour, with connections to the side of the case for silence, playing at will and for starting the pendulum -- 25in. (63.5cm.) high
