The rectangular case with blind fret carving to the front door, fret-carved panels to the sides and rear door, resting on a plinth also carved with foliate scrolls and with pilasters, with further base below, the rectangular brass dial with cherub and coronet spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with elaborate cross half hour markers and cross half quarter hour markers, with matted centre and blued steel hands, the triple chain fusee rear-wind movement with verge escapement, quarter chiming on eight bells with eight hammers via a 2¾in. pinned cylinder, with hour strike on further bell, the backplate engraved with foliate scrolls and with a bird; the movement English for the Chinese Export market -- 24in. (61cm.) high
