A LAHORE CARPET
North India, circa 1900
Of 17th century Isfahan design, the plum-red field with spiralling tendrils issuing palmettes and bold serrated leaves around a column of three tan and indigo concentric cusped lozenge medallions containing arabesques interlaced with floral sprays around similar central medallions, part tan medallions at each side with flowering trees, in an indigo border of alternately facing palmettes linked by tendrils issuing interlaced arabesques and serrated leaves between ivory floral meander and burgundy similar stripes, full pile, slight staining

Lot Essay
