This lavishly illuminated Qur'an was made for one Mirza 'Ali Muhammad Khan, according to an inscription on the last folio, now erased by gold paint. He was the son of 'Abdallah Khan Amin al-Mulk, the husband of Khorshid Kolah Khanum, the 42nd daughter of Fath 'Ali Shah. An opponent of Muhammad Shah, he fled to Iraq after the Shah's death in fear of his life.
