Hadith, Arabic manuscript on cream paper, 225ff. with 32ll. of black maghribi, titles in large script occasionally highlighted with red, opening flyleaf with title of work and name of author, f. 224v. with colophon recording date of completion of manuscript by Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Samad ... in Mecca in Ramadan 578, f. 163b and 224b with sama' record with the name of the Rasulid Sultan Isma'il ibn al-'Abbas, marginal annotations, generally good condition, slight worm and water damage, old repairs, loose in binding, later tan morocco binding with tooled medallion and spandrels

Lot Essay

This very early copy of the work was copied in Mecca.
The two sama' notes on f.163b and f.224b record that it was read to the Rasulid Sultan of Yemen Al-Malik al-Ashraf Isma'il I ibn al-'Abbas (778/1377-803/1400).
