A collection of works on history, Persian manuscript on gold-sprinkled cream paper, 273ff. with 16ll. of fine black nasta'liq, headings within text in red, blue and gold, opening bifolio with text within gold clouds highlighted with floral motifs and border of blue and gold illumination, preceded by illuminated folio with start of text in white nasta'liq on blue cartouche, facing page lacking, with seven miniatures in gouache heightened with gold, slight flaking, otherwise good condition, final folio later replacement, later green morocco binding with tooled medallion and spandrels

The Nigaristan or Picture gallery, is a collection of narratives from Islamic history composed in Ramadan 959. The date of composition is give three folios from the end. This is a very early copy with seven finely executed miniatures in the Shiraz style.
