FOUR UMAYYAD AND FATIMID CARVED BONE PANELS
Syria or Mesopotamia and Egypt, circa 8th and 11th century
Each of rectangular form, one rounded, three carved with meandering scrolling tendrils issuing vine leaves, the fourth carved with the figure of a bird, one with holes for attachment, all with plain borders, both larger panels with repaired breaks

Similar Umayyad examples are in the Musée du Louvre (Les Andalousies de Damas à Cordoue, exhibition catalogue, Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris, 2000, no.13, p.32).
