A LARGE CEYLONESE PIHA-KAETTA with broad slightly curved single-edged blade decorated along the back, at the forte and within the fuller along the top edge on each side with chiselled scrolling foliage overlaid with silver panels against a punched granular ground, and at the forte on each side with a silver-inlaid brass panel partly pierced, cast and engraved with foliage, carved ivory grip-scales stained brown, and silver pommel-cap (damaged) chased with foliage, in carved and fluted wooden scabbard with deep fluted brass locket, 19th Century or earlier
