Philippe Toupriant became master in 1773 and was active until 1796. He held the appointment as gunmaker to the Duc de Chartres, and to the King and the Comte de Provence (later King Louis XVIII)

The gun is engraved with the number 3 on the barrel tang, breech-hooks and top jaws
