Pierre Gilles-Quentin, maître in 1746
Jean-Louis Bancour, ciseleur, is recorded in the 'cour de lEgout Saint-Antoine, Paris circa 1783-8.

A related clock, similarly stamped by 'Bancour' was sold by Philip Crawshaw Esq in these Rooms, 27 June 1974, lot 7 and is discussed in P. Verlet, Les Bronzes Dorés Francais du XVIII siècle, Paris 1987, p.253, fig. 264-5. A further clock is recorded in the Thomassin Collection at Douai in 1883 (A. de Champeaux, Dictionnaire des Fondeurs, vol. 1, A-C., p.85).
