The palmette-enriched chamber candlestick and its 'patera' pan, with basket-weave foot and acanthus-fretted rim, is designed in the early 19th Century 'antique' or 'Empire' style established by C. Percier and P. Fontaine's Feceuil de décorations intérieurs, 1801. The 'vase' nozzles are born on scrolled and griffin-headed brackets, which spring from the stem of the plinth-supported tazza with gadrooned bowl.
