This model of candlestick, traditionally attributed to Juste Aurele Meissonier (1693-1750), is closely related to a pair in the Wrightsman Collection (see F.J.B. Watson, The Wrightsman Collection, New York 1966, Tome II, no. 164, p. 333) and a further pair attributed to the Slodtz brothers in the Wallace Collection (see F.J.B. Watson, Wallace Collection Catalogues, London, 1956, F.76)
