The design for this cartel clock in among a group of clock-cases drawings in the Bibliothèque Doucet, no. 96 (see: H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, vol. 1, p. 188, fig. 3.8.9). The fondeur Fremont is recorded as having asked 72 livres for the ungilded case.
