5 volumes in 10 and 5 volumes of Supplement, together in 15 volumes, 2° (440 x 290mm), engraved portrait by J. Audron after N, Largillière, titles printed in red and black with engraved or woodcut vignette, 1391 engraved plates only (of 1393, lacking one unnumbered from vol.I, and pl.14 from vol.II of the supplement), 247 double-page or folding, a few misnumbered, engraved head-pieces. (Lacks engraved frontispiece, paper flaw in 3 plates affecting the image, some leaves browned and spotted, a few tears, mostly marginal.) Early 19th-century English cat's-paw calf, covers with gilt roll-tool fillet border with added arms of New College, Oxford, spines gilt in compartments with brown and green lettering pieces (rubbed, head and foot of spines slightly rubbed, upper cover of vol.I detached). Provenance: John Peter Fearon (bookplate, with letter of presentation from D. Williams of New College dated 21 January 1843 pasted in vol.I). Sold as usual not subject to return.
