Hand-coloured engraved wall-map of the Pyrenean region of France and Spain by Jean Baptiste Delahaye, on many sheets joined, overall 1150 x 1880mm, the map orientated to the south, extending from Pau and Limoux to Tortose and Daroca,and from Bayonne and San Sebastian to Barcelona and Perpignan, mountains hachured, two compass roses, title set in an elaborate cartouche, descriptive text set in drapeau cartouche, the map enclosed by 'frame' border interspersed with Fleur-de-lys roundels. (The map laid down and mounted on linen, paper slightly cockled, a few old creases.)
A magnificent and remarkably detailed map of Northern Spain and the Pyrenean region of France. Captain Roussel was an engineer renowned for his work in France and Northern Spain. His other maps include a map of France, plans of Paris and maps of Cataluna 1776, and Aragon 1765.
