Henry Lamb learnt the technique of tempera painting from Roger Fry in February 1911 and would have come across his work at Durbins, Fry's house in Surrey. No evidence exists of Fry's sitting to Lamb but they did meet often in 1911, although their relationship was strained due to artistic differences
