Longcase clocks with oval dials are particularly rare, one by Lomax of Blackburn is illustrated in Brian Loomes Lancashire clocks and clockmakers, London, 1975, pl. 119. another unsigned example with year duration movement is illustrated in Tom Robinson, The Longcase clock, London, 1981, pp. 325-7, 10-61 & 2. All of the known examples appear to have fine cases and either long duration movements or other complications such as calendar or as with this example a barometer.
