A George III mahogany longcase clock, the case on bracket feet with reeded chamfered angles to the raised shaped panel on the plinth, shaped trunk door flanked by reeded quarter columns, similar columns to the flat top hood, square bolection-moulded door to the 13 1/4in. sq. engraved dial signed Higginbotham Macclesfield within scroll reserves in the centre with subsidiary rings for strike/silent and calendar flanking an engraved bust of a young woman with tartan head dress and automaton eyes, painted moonphase beneath, the spandrels finely engraved with the seasons, pierced black painted hour and minute hands, and counterpoised sweep centre seconds, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement with automaton link work
