Lot Essay

In the latter half of the 18th Century, such Tables de Nuit or Tables en Chiffonier became popular in French society taste. These later examples are typically shaped with their pierced galleries, three drawers and kidney-shaped platforms. The chinoiserie style inlay on the top and sides is in the manner of Chinese export painted wallpaper dating from the mid-18th Century.
