Lot Essay

Charles Sykes (1875-1950) is probably best remembered for his 'Spirit of Ecstasy', the Rolls Royce mascot, originally commissioned by the then Lord Montague. Sykes studied at the Newcastle college of Art and the Royal College of Art and was a versatile artist in many mediums and genres.
