A SÈVRES-PATTERN DARK-BLUE-GROUND VASE AND CYLINDRICAL STAND, the tapering oviform body with two gilt coiled double-serpent handles with leaf terminals, the body painted with Amphitrite seated on pink drapery attended by other sea-nymphs, a merman and putti, the reverse with Europa wearing white and blue drapery with attendants in an idyllic landscape, within elaborate foliate-scroll and trellis-pattern cartouches, the lower body with gilt flutes and on a knopped and fluted stem, the reverse similarly painted with scenes of Venus and Cupid attended by gallants, the reverse with Venus, Cupid and cherubs (stem with a segment replaced and further restoration, chip to foot of vase), late 19th century
