A PAIR OF MEISSEN (OUTSIDE-DECORATED) OVAL SOUP-TUREENS, COVERS AND STANDS of fluted bombé form, the finials modelled as scantily clad putti holding upturned cornucopiae spilling fruit and flowers, the handles as vertical scrolls, asparagus and cauliflowers issuing from scrolling cornucopiae, painted in a soft palette with pastoral scenes of lovers in verdant pastoral landscapes within pink and gilt rococo scroll cartouches alternating with loose bouquets painted in blue monochrome within similar cartouches, the ground moulded in relief with meandering flowers and foliage (one handle re-stuck, one stand with riveted crack and with chip to rim and footrim, one tureen with chip to foot, small chips to applied flowers and leaves, some wear to glaze and gilding), cancelled blue crossed swords marks, incised 39.4., circa 1880
