AN OKITENUGUI KABUTO

This unusual helmet with its special form, has black lacquered iron neck guards (itamono shikoro) laced in dark blue silk, the black lacquered fukigaeshi are pierced with plum blossom beside the peak, above which is mounted with a crest (maedate) in the form of a half moon and a gilt lacquered wood hollyhock leaf, signed Haruta Mitsusada, circa 1650
