Count d'Albert (1672-circa 1750) commanded the Dauphins-dragons regiment at the capture of Namur in 1692. In 1703 he left the French army and joined the court of Bavaria as lieutenant-general. When the Elector of Bavaria became Emperor Charles VII in 1742, Count d'Albert was appointed councillor of state, field-marshall of the Imperial armies and ambassador extraordinary to the court of France. He was also made a Prince of the Holy Roman Empire
