Edirne, Safar AH 864/7-16th December 1459

confirming the Sultan's cousin, Sitti Hatun, in waqf possesion of two villages in the district of Dimetoka, the villages having previously been mulk property of her brother Mahmud Chelebi, Turkish manuscript on paper, with 9ll. of black gold-blotted diwani below the tughra of Sultan Mehmed II reading 'Muhammad the son of Murad Khan, the ever victorious', (rebacked, faint staining, very slight damage to edges, trimmed at top), identified on the reverse and with an inventory number 1/9

Lot Essay

Sitti Hatun was the granddaughter of Sultan Mehmed I, daughter of Fatma Sultan who was a sister of Sultan Murad II, and the wife of the vizier Zaganos Mehmed Pasha.

The villages, Gidrohori(?) and Vulgarohori, to which the document refers were in the area now Didymoteichon in Greek Thrace.
