Qur'an juz' IIRMamluk, 14th century

manuscript on dark buff paper, 30ff. plus two flyleaves, each with 7ll. of strong black naskh, gold rosettes between verses, the word Allah written in gold outlined in black, some alifs similarly written, gold, red and black marginal medallions with blue outer ring marking the divisions of text, (some smudging and staining and repairs to folio edges), opening folio with central illuminated roundel identifying the juz' and illuminated panel and associated marginal medallion above (slight creasing, very slight staining at edges, original size), opening bifolio with similar illuminated panels above and below the text on red hatched ground (some creasing and staining), ORIGINAL BROWN MOROCCO binding with punched and tooled star medallion heightened with gold dots, similar spandrels, ruled margins and geometric pattern border, flap with all-over geometric pattern and concentric medallion, (repaired, some scuffing, opening board with attached paper regarding the book's waqf donation), brown morocco doublures with stamped arabesque interlace (repairs to edges)
