A SYRIAN POTTERY LUSTRE JUG with drop-shaped body, narrow neck and flaring mouth with pinched spout and simple loop handle on short foot, the body with vertical panels of lustre painted scrolling vine alternating with similar panels of circular motifs divided by thick lustre and cobalt-blue lines, the handle and mouth with simple black decoration, the mouth flanked by two small black 'eyes' giving the impression of a face, Rakka, 13th century (slight restorations)
