The inscription reads:
al-maqarr al-'a... al-mawlawi , al-kabir al-maliki al-'a , limi al-'amili al-'adi[li] al-muja , hid[i] al-marabiti al-muthaghiri al-mu'ayyidi , al-'adud al-nasri al-dhukhri al-hamami , al-makhdumi al-maliki al-nasiri (His excellency the ..., our great and royal Lord, the wise, the active, the just, he who fights in the way of God, the warrior, he who defends the frontier, he who is succoured (of God), the pillar, the treasure, the courageous, he who is (well) served, the officer of Al-Malik al-Nasir [Muhammad b. Qala'un]).

A bowl of unusually large size, the decoration is typical of the period of al-Malik al-Nasir's rule. This piece is in an exceptional state of preservation with most of the engraving on the silver inlay still sharp.
