A FINE MAMLUK-REVIVAL SILVER AND COPPER INLAID BRASS EWER AND BASIN, the basin with rounded body and wide flaring rim, the ewer with tall spreading foot and rounded body rising through a tapering neck to the bulbous mouth and similar hinged pointed cover, the tall curved hexagonal spout with circular grooved finial, the S-shaped handle with lion-head finial,the whole densely engraved and inlaid with silver and copper with bands of interlace between bands of calligraphy, meandering vine and cartouches, the body further decorated with a band of repoussé inlaid lobed cartouches and half-cartouches above and below, the foot and basin rim similar, the separate filter plate acroos the mouth of the basin with a pierced band of calligraphy and star roundels around the central knop and with cusped foliate edge, the body of the basin plain except for a widely spaced band of inlaid repousé lobed cartouches and inlaid rosettes, circa 1870
