The drawing does not seem to correspond to any painting by Millais of c. 1852, but he used the group for The Romans leaving Britain, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1865 (see J.G. Millais, Life and Letters of Sir John Everett Millais, 1899, I, repr. facing p. 386)
