Lot Essay

Born in Lancashire, England, Ian Berry moved to South Africa in 1952 where he worked for the Rand Daily Mail and later the magazine Drum. He moved to Paris in 1962 where he became an associate member of Magnum and moved to England in 1967. He was elected European vice-president of Magnum in 1976 and 1977. His publications include The English (1978) from which these prints are selected.
